Employee Benefits Compliance Specialist/Paralegal
CMC Consulting, LLC, a boutique consulting and legal practice providing specialized advisory and legal services to the self-funded industry, seeks a highly motivated and energetic Employee Benefits Compliance Specialist/Paralegal to join our growing organization. The successful candidate must be an effective telecommuter, and will be a part of a dynamic team that provides legal and consulting services to group health plans, Third Party Administrators, and vendors with regard to employee benefits matters.

The Employee Benefits Compliance Specialist/Paralegal provides senior level compliance and technical support. This individual will be responsible for reviewing and researching regulatory issues, drafting plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and related documents; conducting non-discrimination testing; preparing reporting for the IRS and the Department of Labor; preparing supporting forms and documentation for the proper operation and administration of employee benefit plans; developing and executing compliance strategies; and assisting in the business development and retention process. This individual will also be responsible for assisting with ensuring clients are apprised of and in compliance with current ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, COBRA and various other State and Federal regulatory and employment matters.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational, research, writing, leadership, business and client relationship skills, and will need to possess a high work ethic and be able to work independently with minimal supervision and a high attention to detail. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and a minimum of three years of applicable experience is required.

Employee Benefits Associate Attorney
CMC Consulting, LLC seeks a highly motivated and energetic attorney to join our growing organization. Ideal candidate requires a strong ERISA and tax background and at least four years of experience addressing current health and welfare plan compliance issues relating to ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and various other State and Federal regulatory and employment matters. The candidate must be an effective telecommuter, and will be a part of a dynamic team that provides legal and consulting services to a variety of clients with regard to employee benefits matters.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing ongoing counsel to Clients regarding compliance and tax matters
  • Drafting and Reviewing Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, Plan Amendments, SMMs, and related documents
  • Drafting and reviewing various contracts on behalf of Clients
  • Supporting Client lobbying efforts
  • Advising Clients on new benefit plan designs and implementation
  • Responding to and ensuring compliance with IRS and DOL audits and filings
  • Overseeing health plan non-discrimination testing and dependent audits

The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational, research, writing, leadership, business and client relationship skills, and possess a high work ethic with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a high attention to detail. Must be admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one state bar.
